Shannon says,
When I turned 21, my mom and dad decided I was too old to be single. So, during our trip to sunny Sri Lanka not only did they ask every relative we ever had if they knew any single 21 pre-med Catholic guys, but they put an ad for me in the newspaper without telling me. We had been back in the states for about a week when some old guy at a family party gave my parents a piece of newspaper. I didn't think anything about it. When we were driving back, my mom, without thinking, quickly gave me the newspaper to shield myself from the sun. Fine. It was the singles section of the newspaper. I thought, let's read about all the losers who need their mom and dad to find them a mate. Afer a while, I noticed an ad for a female pre-med bio student who was a US citizen and tall and pleasant. My intelligent pre-med bio brain put two and two together, and I realized that that old dude had been showing my parents the ad. It was the biggest fight I've ever had with my parents and the first time I've thrown something/cracked a mirror. It was the biggest FML ever, and my parents have been scared of me ever since. P.S. - I'm a bit butt hurt cuz we all know what "pleasant" is code for, aka - don't expect a beauty queen. FML!

That might just be my most fav. story ever. Such a classic, just happened to see the paper, read the article... etc, stars were aligned.

That's meddlesome and ridiculous...I was almost expecting an arranged marriage or something upon reading the first few sentences...hah.
