My boyfriend needs to understand that when women are doing house chores and the like, we don't like to have to ask for help even if we really want help. It's not that we want you to read our minds. We should not have to ask and explicitly demand your help. This would make us seem really demanding, which we don't want to be. We don't ask for help with simple tasks because we are perfectly capable of accomplishing it on our own. When these small tasks pile up, we just spend a lot of time and energy finishing up chores, instead of spending time with you, doing things you want to do, or doing things we like when we're done with chores. Also, when you're helping out with a task, like planning or packing for a trip, remember that your help is not only facilitating the process, but you can make important contributions; sometimes one person's strengths is not enough!
